Key Largo / July 2013 / The Great Annual Fish Count
This event is coordinated by the (REEF) that mobilizes & trains volunteer divers & snorkelers in established methodologies to identify & document fish diversity & population trends in marine ecosystems. This annual event serves to introduce & inspire recreational divers & snorkelers to: participate in REEF's year-round Volunteer Survey Project; raise awareness among both the diving community & public-at-large regarding marine habitats & trends in fish populations; & provide researchers, marine resource managers & policy makers with this useful information. In the summer of 1993, the first REEF fish surveys were conducted by a group of pioneering volunteers. Twenty years later, REEF's Volunteer Survey Project and other REEF initiatives are leading the way as innovative and effective marine conservation programs. Big Pine & The Lower Keys / April & May, 2013 / The Habitiat ReStore & Coconut Closet
The Habitat ReStore and Coconut Closet in Big Pine Key need retail assistants. We could use a Social Media assistant to put our events/photos on our Facebook pages. We need an office assistant who would come in weekly to help with data entry and other clerical assignments. Our Resource Development committee can always use your help with our special events.
